Thank yo so much...I really really needed to hear that. I find myself critiqueing everything I do here lately. Can't get it done without looking at it thru someone else's eyes first. I recently decided to distance myself from a group that was taking that mentality. I also removed myself from the influence of what prompted this post.

I have to admit I've done the same as the ones mentioned above though not anywhere near the extent. I think we all have at some point.

Great post!! And I'll add....a true artist wouldn't tell another artist that their work isn't art, because a true artist knows that art IS in the eye of the beholder (and within the creating artist).

What you say is so true! I always considered myself to be 'artistically challenged' until the past year - and my blog. It was the encouragement of other artists that have made me change my view of all things art. Heart.

Last July I was discussing ART with my child and whether she would take a "formal" art class.

She said this, "Momma, EVERYONE is an artist, EVERYONE is TRYING to create something."

I love the simplicity of thought in my daughter's experience.

I agree that art comes from the emotional centre, but therein lies the problem. I have been an artist for many years both privately and commercially. What I found was that everyone, no matter who, is an art critic including myself at times. ( although nowadays I try to be more aware of it)
