Last day of FEBRUARY!?!

I can't believe it's the last day of FEBRUARY already!! I can't believe it's been two WEEKS since we started this move.
On the first day of our move, Macs lost not one, but TWO teeth!! And he lost a third a few days ago.

I've been unpacking and trying to keep the house running as usual... It's not been what I imagined... seeing as I didn't end up having the time I planned to have to sort through things BEFORE we moved.
I did manage to get rid of a lot before we left. About 10 truck loads to the dump, and half the living room in donations to the local thrift store. Still, there were things that came with us that didn't really need to, so I'm sorting as I unpack and put things in their new places. So far, the boy's room, kitchen and laundry area are done. (notice the sweet fort spot that the top bunk being on the floor makes)

The living room still has books to be put away. The bathroom still has toiletries to be put away. The well had it's first hic up last night, so the dishes aren't done... but here's my teeny kitchen... :)

Today was an amazingly beautiful day... sunny and crisp. I took Hash for a walk and shot some photos while I was out... Our river:

And some cool looking moss growing in the shade on the side of the road in the photo above:

Travis' cousin gave us a huge trampoline today. One that was given to them, and they decided their kids were a little too little for... pictures of that to come I'm sure. lol It got some good use today already!! Thanks, "uncle" Cody!!

I hate you unwanted commentors!!

I'm trying to figure out how to thwart the s p a m m e r s and make it so they aren't able to comment, and still others without accounts can. What I'm working on right now is to make it so they can't comment on past posts, and have to use the IntenseDebate forms, where I will be able to ban them in the future. SO. Please bear with me while I experiment.

Kindred House

I think the world is full of kindred spirits.
I think that God has a special way of putting them in our lives when we need them most.
My best friend came to me in the form of a kindred spirit.
I knew she was my soul friend when she sent me some mail during a time in my life when I had lost friendship that I had THOUGHT was kindred. Turns out, I didn't really know what the word could mean.
She sent me a salt shaker.
Just a salt shaker.
BUT
I collect salt shakers.
She read that, and sent me one.
Then I read the handmade card she included with the shaker.
It had a photo of a set of shakers just like the one she sent me.
On the inside, she wrote that the shaker she had sent me was alone because she had kept it's mate. There are people in the world who just GET you.
Today, while I was closing the door to Travis shop, I noticed the door's handle.

HOLY CRAP.
It's the handle of an IRON!!

I have moved into a kindred house.
With all it's antiquities, and creaks and single paned windows...
It's kindred. We've all felt at home here since the moment we set eyes on it.
And suddenly, I'm not worried about moving my Erosion Bundle onto the tree outside my kitchen window.

I decided that move time would be a good time to make the change from underground to hanging.
I didn't open the bundle, but I can hear that the glass in the frame has broken. (probably got stepped on during the move before I dug it out)
This morning the sun shone through the burlap

I'm hoping that soon, I'll be able to start creating again... in the area that was meant to be a dining area, but that I have started to make into my studio. (dining table is to the right of the studio at the bottom right of the photo.)

I can't wait to create in my new kindred house.

Also known as Cause of Death

Moving is going to kill me, but I managed to get some pretty cool pictures of our new house! It's an old farm house, with what I'll be calling "character".
We're just about all the way done with moving things HERE, and then will come the task of UNPACKING.
The boys are loving it here. The chickens laid two eggs while still in the kennel we moved them here in, so obviously THEY love it here. The cats are all sticking around without being penned in. The dogs ask to go out so they can RUN.
Here's the back view of the house. This is the door that will get used the most. Enters into the laundry/mud room.

Travis saw me editing this, getting it ready for this post and said "That rocking chair just looks like junk sitting in the yard, but when you put it in a photo like that, it looks pretty cool!" lol I wonder who sat in that chair...

This tree is the one I'm betting will be climbed on a LOT. The boys have pretty much told EVERYONE they plan on a lot of tree climbing at the new house.

There's some bushes blooming here... I can't remember what this one's called... but in the winter time, they always look like a hot mess.

This flowering tree is just outside my dining area window...

Moving on My Anniversary

Moving still in progress. I'm posting from my mom's house tonight. Tomorrow is my anniversary and I'll be spending it MOVING!! lol I have pictures... but I DON'T have my card reader for the camera I took the photos on!! AAAAAGH!!! lol The move is trucking along!! First load is IN the house, and thanks to my AWESOME mommy, the new house is clean inside!! There have been a few glitches (old tenant not AS out as planned... and so house not AS ready as planned) but we're adapting, and things are still on track. We go back for another load tomorrow, and HOPEFULLY, that load will be the last with the exeption of the cats, chickens and the bathroom, which we'll bring back on the LAST trip after we clean the house. Internet and Phone are coming MONDAY! Pictures to come.

ETA: Josh and Macs can't stop telling me how much they love the new house. They are in LOVE with the country. So are the dogs. Ian says the same thing, and I got to see him play with his new team last night!! It was AWESOME to see him play.
I love knowing just about everyone at the game and being related to half of them. Seriously. I feel like I moved to Cheers.

New Comments

I have tried other comment systems before, but I saw this one of a fellow blogger's site, and I think I like it! So I've added it to my blog. We'll see if I keep using it or not... so far, so good!!

Rusty Springs

Remember how I love to collect things?
And remember how I like to collect things just because I like them?
And remember how I like to collect things even if I don't have a CLUE what I'm going to do with them?
Well a while back, I blogged about Someone Else's Mattress.
And I took this cool photo of the springs in it.

And now I'm moving... and it's six months later...
And the box spring was STILL in one piece...
And hubs wanted to know if I was ready to admit that he should take the SOGGY WET RUSTY box spring to the dump.
OF COURSE I said NO. I was NOT ready for that, and that we needed to take it apart and save the springs!!
And now I have this AWESOME collection of Box Springs. Yummy rusty box springs. Hubs helped me take it all apart...
Because he loves me THAT much...At least I didn't MOVE the wet rusty box spring so I could take it apart.
A box full of box springs is WAY lighter and takes up WAY less space.
AND my etsy shop will have some cool rusty springs in it later this year.

Eggs, Packing, Collections.

In that order.
We ate eggs from the first dozen the other day... and I took pictures, but never got them up here, so. Here they are!!

I knew they yolks would be really yellow...

but I was still surprised!!
My mom came to help me get some major packing done...

I have a LOT of CRAP art supplies.

Also:
I realized that I have collecting issues. lol I have a lot of them.
Here's an example.

They filled a flat rate shipping box too full to close.
lol
On the bright side, I do have a PLAN for them...
I realized that I may need to take a collecting break, and actually DO the things I have planned for all the things I've collected. After this move, my etsy shop is gonna look GOOD.
