Dolls, baby

I'm in the process of making a themed SET of dolls to finish what I started with ciel, my trapeze artist. I'm working on a Strongman, and soon, a Tattooed lady to go with her!! I have the strongman's face done, and when he's dry, he'll be ready to PAINT!! I can't wait!! He's gonna be AWESOME!! (be sure to say that with a Boston accent)

Getting ready for the summer, I ordered a praying mantis egg sack to watch hatch, and some butterflies too!! Should be fun...
I also ordered the boy's copies of Wreck the Journal, for us to work through together!! I am SO ready for summer. SO ready. Like, can we start tomorrow?

Sorry no pics for you!! I'm on the way out the door to go to work!!

Gaea Mina

My newest doll!! I have plans to submit her for publication... wish me LUCK!! lol I made her using all recycled materials, all the way down to the fabric I used to make her body. She is made out of old bed linens. She has a lamp base and neck for legs and feet, a Jr scrabble board between the two of those, and her skirt is made from two onion sacks. Since she's made of all recycled materials, I named her Gaea Mina, which translates to mean earth protector.

Special Order

I had a request for a custom item with a bowling theme, and while garage sale shopping with Kerin, found an old Jim Beam bottle in the shape of a bowling pin. The bottle had a beam label painted on it, and it wouldn't come off. Since the item was to a be a gift for a teen age girl, I thought it best to cover the label. :) So I came up with THIS!! I love it. I hope she does too!!

Thing One and Thing Two

Thing ONE:
Something I never would have DREAMED that when I started blogging three years ago; that I would have met so many FRIENDS here on line. I certainly would have told you that you were NUTS if you had tried to tell me that I would actually try to MEET with them IN PERSON!!
Still.
I have.
I have met so MANY amazing women here on line. Some of them, I have been lucky enough to meet- DARE I SAY-
IN
REAL
LIFE.
Most recently, my mom and I got to meet Kerin (pronounced krrInn not kAIren) and we had SO MUCH fun!! She is an artist who lives about an hour from me, here on the coast of Oregon, and we met "halfway" in a town between us for Sushi, thrifting and garage sales!! Here's a photo of us... (notice my bangs are getting LONG...)

Which leads me to Thing TWO:
When you have short hair, it doesn't take long for your hair to become "too long" for the style you have it cut. When I decided to go short again I knew this. I knew!! Some days though... it's hard to find a cute way to make due until you can cut it again. In my case, I cut my own hair, so it's also a matter of having the will to clean up the mess after I'm done. I should tip myself better. The picture above was a "make due" style. Bangs too long, sideburns WAY too long. They were TRYING to stay tucked behind my ears... lol
Tonight,
I did the deed.
I cut my hair.
It feels SO much better!! Funny how hair can make you feel like YOU.

So what do YOU do to make yourself feel like YOU?

Nothing is Safe.

It's official. There is nothing safe from glue and paper in my house. I have had a clear cover for my cell phone for a while now. I like that it keeps my phone safe, but because it's clear, and because I have BOYS... it shows ALL the dusty dirt that gets trapped between the phone and the cover.
Gee
Arr
Oh
Ess
Ess.
Totally.
So I have been pondering what to do about the messy thing for a while now.
Last night, I decided what I would do.
Cover it from the inside, by gluing dictionary paper to the back of the cover. Of course, not just any page would do, so I picked the Telephone section of the dictionary for the project.
Front:

Back:

Next stop: The laptop. heh heh...

Oh, the Cardage!!

A project I have been wanting to do for AGES now... and when the TallyScrapper.com MAY KIT came to my mail box, I knew it was going to be PERFECTION for the project. What is this project, you ask? No? You didn't ask? Well. I'm gonna tell you anyway. Bwhahahahaha
From this kit, I give you...
An altered book for keeping important cardy dates in.

and CARDS. 13 of them. Only the first two have papers that aren't in the kit.

The kit will be released for sale at noon central on May 15th!! Don't lose out. It's a great kit.

Mommy Day

Mother's Day... a little bitter sweet for me today... missing my mommy's mommy, and wishing she were here today. I know my mom's thinking about her too. I wish we could have spent a day this weekend at the thrift store together. Just the three of us.

Travis took us to a Crayfish Festival that had it's first year debut near us this year. It was so fun. Tasting new foods, and listening to the live band... Lots of photos to share... if you dare!!
We barely made it in time to get the last of the crayfish!! Nearly the last pound that the vendor had. My first taste of New Orleans' Style Crayfish. I like it. I like it ALOT.

Even took the advice of some friends on line and sucked the head. I mean really. If you're gonna try it, you should do it up right.

Josh did it too. We both agreed it was yummy.

The boys got their faces painted...

This is my view of Ian now. Notice you're looking UP.

This lady was FREAKING AWESOME!! Says she ate all those claws herself!! lol Wonder if she's got the same wine I bought...

There was FOOD, FOOD and MORE FOOD!!

Finger lickin' GOOD food.

The live band made you feel like you were right there, in New Orleans!! Complete with a Washboard to jam on. The Etouffee Band "swamp rock" jubilee...

Even Hash met a few new friends!!

Josh took a ride on what will forever be called "the SPINNY THINGY"

We ran into friends, and spent the last half of our stay enjoying it all with them... Thanks, LeeAnn, for reminding me about this!! It was MORE than worth it.

And as we were leaving... I caught a look at this sign... :P made me giggle. You can see ALL our photos on Flickr!!

Now I'm off to finish up my day!! I've been spoiled and loved, and I appreciate it all. Hope your day had some bright spots too!! Pass a Good Time!!
