It's a common theme in our house.
Right now, it's everywhere.
Mostly in our backyard, but it's creeping into the house too.
It's also the reason that I haven't blogged in
FOR
EVER.
We filled our pool.
We didn't fill it with water.
We filled it with DIRT.
LOTS and LOTS of dirt.
27 dump truck loads of DIRT.
I'm a little sad that we won't have the chance to catch poliwogs and grow them into frogs, but I won't miss the TIME and ENERGY that Travis spent on the pool care for the one week of warm enough weather we had here on the coast for an un heated pool. Things were old... things were broken... and to fix it would have taken a LOT of cash.
In the end, we found a FREE fill dirt source, and and a GREAT deal from a dump truck owner who not only gave us the use of his truck, but RAN it the entire day.
And then there's Grampa Jim.
Who came and ran the tractor all day, so that we could get that dirt IN.
Here's the photo I like to call
The Last of the Blue...
This picture says everything you need to know about what kind of grampa Grampa Jim is, and how much my boys love that man.
And this one says everything you need to know about how a little boy feels to be "helping" his grampa.
so it's done... and my hubby even put in the fire pit!! I'll try to get out and get some good photos SOON.

aww bless your boys for loving their grandpa so much, that's lovely!!! have a great day hun xx
i'm bummed you had to fill up your pool. i know i wouldn't have been swimming in it, but still...
such a sweet picture with grandpa.
i figured out why i'm bummed. 'cause it's so stinking hot right now, and just to have seen a refreshing water-filled pool would have cooled me down. now, after seeing the dirt-filled pool, i feel hot and "dirty." ;)
Wow Rachel....U guys have been alittle busy, AWesome ;)
Oh wow! I don't blame you for filling it in. They can be such a hassle to take care of.
The picture of your son with Grandpa is too cute!
I bet that is a relief to have done. Let me tell you some days I would like to do that to my pool. they are so much work! Love the photos of Grampa
SO sweet. However, I must express my unhappiness with you for allowing Macs to grow up SO MUCH!! Seriously, can't you give him extra caffeine or lead paint chips or something?
