I'll tell you how I became the queen of clay de'paper...
Ok. I was trying to make it rhyme...
A while ago, Coffee took a doll making class on line, and she loved it.
I've wanted to make dolls for a while now, and thought it sounded too.
Then she SENT me her first doll.
I love her, of course.
Then she told me that Jane was giving another class.
I signed up.
I had already bought a bag of paper clay, and had most of the tools I needed.
Fast forward to the week I actually signed up for the class.
Paper Clay?
What paper clay?
Totally lost.
Cleaned the studio.
SEARCHED the studio.
Looked all over for a bag that might not have gotten unpacked, even though I was pretty sure that I had unpacked the bugger.
OK.
Enough looking.
Get on line.
Go to Mr. Blick's WONDERFUL store...
Buy another bag.
Fast forward again, to today, when I get confirmation of shipment.
Realize that this means, due the the holiday on Monday, I won't see paper clay until WEDNESDAY at the soonest.
SOONEST.
This is not acceptable, so naturally
I went in desparation to the local craft store.
They HAVE paper clay...
HARD AS A ROCK DRIED IN THE BAG PAPER CLAY.
Naturally, I choose the next logical solution.
I drive 25 miles to buy ANOTHER bag.
Do I REALLY need to tell you that I found the FIRST bag I bought IMMEDIATELY after coming home?
Of course I did.
Which means, that come next week, I'll be three deep in paper clay!! lol
BUT it also means that I have the clay to play NOW.
So I did.
She's drying now. First layer of paper clay on. Next stop:
FACE.
I also went to the thrift store for some mugs... because I wanted some mugs for cleaning and water, and doll stuff... I found some.
I also found this!!
It's a sheet. I think it will make a BEAUTIFUL skirt.
More on the doll front later!! I'm off to eat dinner!!

ReplyDeleteDo you LOVE this story?! This is SO what happens to me! You got your paper clay fast! I ordered pencils, pastels, and crayons and they took two weeks to get here! Of course, I bought individual pieces, not sets. They had to go to the warehouse, open the sets, find the right colors, separate them, throw the rest of the sets in the trash, put mine in little bags to keep them from touching each other... I mean, it was probably INSANE there at Blick HQ !!

Okay. That sheet is FAB. I look forward to seeing the skirt, provided you take a photo of it. If you don't put it on your blog I probably won't see it.
Have a great time at your class! I don't know if paper clay is diff. than polymer clay, but I bet it is. I'll have to go look it up. Better yet, I'll order some and see how quickly they get it to me. If it's two weeks or more, then I'll have to assume they like you better...
