Family Reunion

Thought since I'm on my way to a fam reunion, a family photo would be good too.

I'm leaving in a bit to got to Travis' family reunion. Funny thing is, TRAVIS won't be going. He has to work!! So he and the damned dog will be staying home. Shame about the dog... lol See you in a few days!!!

It's that time again!!! Been busy getting that page ready for GutterGirlz!! The next prompt is coming out TOMORROW!!! Here's a little bit of Guttery Goodness for you, since I'm not so good at keeping secrets... We announced our Guest Designer last challenge, and she'll be debuting her layout with us as well!! Our trip was AWESOME. We got so MUCH fit into our little staycation...
The Zoo was a BLAST.

Didn't realize how many wild HUMANS there are at the zoo!! Very bad mannered ones too. We had fun in spite of them. :) It's photos like this

Had some fun playing with our glow necklaces!! Pretty neat effects, I think!!


While we were visiting with my sister, she arranged for a cousin I had all but given up on catching up with again, to meet us at our hotel after our day at the zoo. It was SO COOL to see him again!! I am determined that we are NOT going to lose track of each other this time!!!

We talked just about most of the evening about photography, and guess what.

First ZOO pic of the day...

HEY!!! I'm here in our Hotel, and I'm BLOGGING on MY computer!! Just had to share this photo... Macs got to take a camera and have it all to himself at the zoo, so of course I had to get a few shots of him taking pictures... this is at the first place we say animals. The mountain goat exhibit.

And then there's my little sis and IAN!! He's TALL!!! (and she's tiny too)

It was a good day today!! She's on her way over here for a little bit today once she's done with her short work shift she had today!! Tomorrow, another long drive to see MORE friends and family and fit MORE into our weekend!! lol

ZOO time!!

We're off bright and early in the morning!! Not to the aquarium you see here, but to the ZOO!! Josh and Macs have never BEEN to this zoo, and they've been counting down the days until we go!! They are SO excited. Josh has been, but he was only a few months old, so he doesn't remember, of course!

I sewed a camera strap for Macs' camera today, because now that I have my Nikki, all the kids have inherited my old cameras. So the Macs needed a strap to help him keep track of his. I'm excited to be having an adventure with the boys that they will all be old enough to remember.

I'll have my laptop with me, so I may blog a bit from the road. If not, see you in a few days!

Lots of yummy news at my house!! Not only have I been a computer FOOL today, playing with my new little toy, we got our connection box from Vonage!! I will be able to make UNLIMITED long distance and phone calls to anyone I like as long as I'm in my house. We got a land line, for only 25.00 a month!! If you haven't thought about vonage, you SHOULD. Vonage is a phone line through your internet. You use a regular phone, and plug it into your internet connection. The part that I REALLY like, other than the unlimited phone calls, is that you register your home address. So unlike Skype, or other computer connection based phone lines, you can call 911 from your phone. You get a local number, and use your regular "landline" phone. I got a cordless one that has a port for a head set, so that I can connect the headset, and putter around the house while I talk on the phone. Can you say, Phone Scrapping!?!? SO COOL. I'll be reducing our min. with our cell phones, and with the reduction in min, we'll be saving about 50.00 a month by my calculations. And I'll never have to worry about going over min!! Way better than the RAW deal we are getting from AT&T... WAY. And when our two years are up with them, we can SWITCH and be saving even MORE money!!
ANYWHOOOOOO.... I'm pretty happy.

It's HERE!!!

My computer came!! I've been BUSY learning the ins and outs of Vista... still have some kinks I need to iron out. BUT I love knowing that I'll be mobile and able to go places! We'll see how things go!! Tomorrow, I might have some photos... I have none on this computer, and I NEED to go to bed!!

Here she is!! If you want to know how I made her, the next post tells you!! I wanted to show you how she'll look as a jewelry display, so I made her a necklace out of buttons from my collection.

My Bust is shaping up...

Actually, it's COFFEE'S bust. I am making it. I started out with a head like this one... (take BEFORE PICTURES, Rachel... BEFORE pictures....) This isn't THE head, because as mentioned, I forgot to take pictures BEFORE. At any rate, I got mine at the thrift store, and it was super cheap.


THEN I took it, and added a base to it, using a foam support for a lampshade that came with a lamp we bought. (TAKE DURING pictures, Rachel, DURING.) I should also mention I LOVE liquid nails. Glued that baby down TIGHT.
Next, I used that Spray Foam Sealer that you can buy at wal mart. It expands. I used it to create her shoulder and chest area... then once it was hard, and cut it all to shape. (AGAIN, with the photo reminder, Rachel)
Once I had my shape, I made paper mache' to cover the shoulder and chest, and shape a face. THEN once all that was dry, I smoothed out the paper mache with joint compound.

FINALLY, with the pictures...
BUT joint compound will not be sturdy once it's dry, when it's been spread so thinly... so I covered THAT with decoupaged dictionary paper...

She's really shaping up even more nicely than I imagined, and I COULD have stopped here, but I'm still playing... more to come on that!!
