There happen to be at least two, I think more whale watching areas along the coast line near to us. One of them has a sheltered building for bad weather watching. There are two times every year for good whale spotting, and one of them is in the spring. The first year we moved here, we moved here just a tad too late for the spring run. Last year, I thought about it too late AGAIN, and this year, I was SURE I had missed it all over... BUT I checked on line today.... and it's NOT TOO LATE!! In fact, I checked JUST in time!! So sometime between this weekend, and the end of the month, I will be taking my kids to the lookout. Cross your fingers, I hope they get to spot a whale...

I think seeing that mother and her calf up close and personal like that may have been a once in a lifetime treat! Nonetheless, it is always awesome to see a whale, even if you can only see it from a distance. Good luck!
