Deck of ME week 52

Week 52. It's over. Feels so good to have it DONE, and at the SAME time, it's kinda sad... I can't believe it's been a year! I decided to take Week 52's prompt ART to reflect the on the artist in myself that I have discovered. I used sealing wax and my finger print again, like I did in my first card. Kinda cool to go full circle with that!

MY MOM
For guiding me and encouraging me when I wanted to sew barbie clothes and stick horses, or paint my face with watercolors. For learning to Draw on the Right Side of the Brain with me.
CHRISTINE
For fostering my leadership abilities, and creating a place where I realized that MY STYLE is just that. MINE. It doesn't need to LOOK like those I admire to be good all on it's own.
EMILY
For making sure that every Sunday night for the last YEAR, I was able to find another seed of creativity to grow in my soul. For being humble and encouraging to a bunch of strangers. For making every card special.

I've been so busy today!! And I bet aside from my ROCKIN' Music from my highschool days, you can't even tell... *sigh*... BUT if you click on my group links in my sidebar... you will see... I've been busy making my blog a prettier cleaner place to be!

Her name is Betty

My Mom and Dad gave Travis and me a GARMIN!!! I was so excited I SCREAMED!! lol My friend Colby got one at the end of last summer... and he named his Shelby. When Mom and I drove to California, we decided that the freedom Shelby gave to Colby without any fear of getting lost would be really good for two women exploring California!! So we bought LUCY. She was the BEST, and when we got back from Cali, I was sooooo sad that Lucy wouldn't be on my dashboard. I've been eyeing Garmins ever since. EVER since. Until YESTERDAY!!! We named our Garmin Betty. She knows her way to every Cackle Snackle in the land... I'm SO EXCITED!! No getting lost on my way to the Airports this Feb.!!

My finger is WAY better, and THANK YOU!! to everyone who left all those NICE "yousillygirl" comments! I loved EVERY ONE of them!!

Today I was getting ready to leave for our family's Christmas gatherings... I was cutting tomato for Salsa...

There is not MEAT in the recipe,

somewhere in my mind
I thought
there should be....

Don't worry! I threw those tomatoes out!

Along with part of my finger. It took an hour and 1/2 for the bleeding to stop. I don't think Santa will be getting fresh cookies... we'll see.

I'm also pretty sure that the dishes won't get done.

Proud Momma

I've been working on this for a few days now... Lots of drying time. I'm so proud of it! I made it for Christine, and I'm almost sorry to give it away!! I've never loved a gift project THAT much!!

Hockey Hair

He wanted his hair cut to be spikey.
Of course, I oblige. Then, when he looks in the mirror to check my work, and see if it's good, he says this. In a very excited voice...
"It looks like HOCKEY HAIR, huh, mom!?"

I love them... and their hockey hair...

This little BOY seems to have suddenly appeared in his place.

Glue

It gets really tough at Thanksgiving and Christmas... Those were the times that our family would gather at her home... I don't understand how family dies with one person. Ours did. Now it's just my family, and my Mom and Dad, and my sister. I haven't even EMAILED at least two uncles in YEARS. I send them an email once in a while. I send them Christmas cards... Nothing. I don't understand. I don't even know my cousin's phone number. The cousin that I grew up playing on Gramma's property with. I don't understand how avoiding family makes the loss of my gramma better. It's not better. It's worse than ever, because every year, when I see tiny villages, and glittery ornaments, I am reminded that I not only lost my Gramma, I lost my family. Connections that I THOUGHT would last for my lifetime, because, after all, we were FAMILY. Blood outlasts all, right? So wrong... and I know she would be devastated. Devastated that our glue is gone with her. That everything that created smiles and gatherings with family took it's last breath with her. Now we are little pieces of family, pieces that don't talk. Or even send a card. We used to have HUGE meals, and people would sit on the counters in her kitchen while she bustled and made preparations. She would put out a fine table, laid with wine glasses for toasting with sparkling cider, and mashed potatoes for everyone. When I was little, we would sit and look at slides on the slide screen, and sing with my uncle's guitar music. We would take as long as it took, for everyone to open their gifts, one at a time, and we would just BE. Thinking of all we lost with her, makes me lonely.

Rockin' The PJ's

Scrapping the Music's Newest Challenge!! Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree... it's a FUN song to scrap! I used this photo of the family in the ONLY photo that turned out last year!! I got matchy PJ's so we'd be so CUTE, for the first time EVER, and only ONE photo... lol at least it's a good one! Lot's of goodies from TallyScrapper in this one!

It's gonna be a bare bones Christmas...

Travis took these photos while I was out the other day... I love that guy! I mention that if we leave the skeleton out much longer, we'll have to use it in our Christmas decorations, and this is what I get!! I love it.

Morning!

It's been busy and productive here in the last few days!! I have been staying on top of my house, and THAT'S saying something! I have some projects under my sleeve, and if the weather is nice enough, I might put a tree in the ground today. My Christmas shopping is done, and I think I might start wrapping soon. Should be getting some packages in the mail in the next day or two!! I LOVE that. Packages make me happy. And cards. I'm loving snail mail... it's such fun to get a little note from a friend in the middle of all that JUNK... Have a great day!!
